Although I'm pretty militant about slower traffic keeping right, and I 
also make that commute, you have to recognize that 17 presents quite a 
dilemma to a driver who wants to go the limit (50 mph) and keep right
except to pass.  That's because of all the very slow trucks going
35 mph or less.  If one moves over one is very likely to come around a 
curve and find oneself stuck behind one of these trucks for a very long 
time, as  type-A drivers are also reluctant to let the poor bastards 
back into the left lane to pass the truck.  Most days I do follow
a policy of giving a break to *one* driver caught in such a 
situation.
