Dear Sri Sampath Swami, If Swami's works are treated as family property then there won't be any effort to publish his works and making them available for interested AstikAs. Some of the books that are in demand (like Prabhandha Rakshai - a commentary on Dhivya Prabhandham) are reprinted (at least in parts) periodically. As adiyEn mentioned earlier, just to make sure that his works are available for future generations, there is a digitization effort being undertaken. To emphasize that SwAmi's works are not treated as family property adiyEn would like to mention that there is a committee (comprising of SwAmi's sishyAs besides KumArAs) that makes decision regarding SwAmi's books. SwAmi's family does not make decision on His books according to their whims and fancies. adiyEn accepts your view of making such works available for larger audience but there is a procedure to follow in publicizing copyrighted works. The objection in Sou. SubhAshini's email is more about getting permission before making digital copy available publicly rather than "why are you taking our family property/treasure and giving to others?". In adiyEn's humble opinion, if the "few people with interest" are really interested in studying Swami's works, they won't wait for them to become free but would spend few tens or hundreds of rupees to acquire them. About 4 or 5 years back, almost 25 to 30 works of Swami were given for just Rs. 1500/-. adiyEn don't have any idea on how many AstikAs made use of that subsidized pricing. As there are other more interesting topics being discussed in Oppiliappan group, adiyEn would like to request Sri Satakopan Mama to not allow any more emails in this thread. adiyEn sincerely hopes that Sri Adisesh Iyengar would do his part in taking the book off public domain. If bhAgavatAs are interested in acquiring Swami's book they can contact Sri U.Ve. T.V. Rajagopalachariar at Old No 7, New No 19, Nathamuni Street T.Nagar, Chennai 600017.
