If anyone knowledgeable amongst you can help >adiyane will be grateful. Sriman C.G.Balaji of Bangalore is very knowledgable devotee of Swamy Desikan . He is preparing a set of comprehensive CD ROMs on Swami Desikan's life and Vaibhavam from Guru ParamparA . Those CD ROMs will contain extensive information on His SrI Sokthis and tributes to Him by AchAryAs , who came after Him (Swamy Desikan).I request SrIman Balaji to shed some light on Your friends'questions .Thnaks SrIman Balaji . > >Where did Swami Desikan breathe his last? Was it in SriRangam or >Kanchi? Or elsewhere? Is there a 'samAdhi' at the spot where the >'AchArya' shed mortal coils (similar to the spot in SriRangam where >they say that RamanujAchArya spent his last moments on earth)? It was at SrIrangam that Swamy breathed His last . Since He was a grahsthar , there are no brindhAvanam for Him.All agni Kaaryams were done by His KumArar, Swamy NainAcchArya/ Kumara VardachAr Swamy.AchArya RaamAnujA being a Yathi(Raajan) , He had to have BrundhAvanam instead of cremation . Today's RaamAnujA Sannidhi at SrIrangam ( ThaanE aana ThirumEni) was outside the SrI RanganAtha temple precincts in His days. That was the BrundAvanam was allowed there. At this Sannidhi, we see a life like statue of AchArya RaamAnujA, which many accept as His own TirumEni preserved over centuries. Actually, Our paramAchAryan's earthly remains are under the peetam over which we have the darsanam of His ThirumEni . The VaradarAjan (His AarAdhana Moorthy ) worshipped by Him during His life time is in a sannidhi next to His. I will forward a posting of SrI C.G.Balaji on who acquired His AarAdhana Moorthy , Sri VaradarAjan. > >Like Ramanuja did in his final moments, did Swami Desikan also >deliver a final sermon to his son or disciples? Is there any record >of such a final sermon? Is there any record in the 'guru-paramparai' >texts, or is there any personal account of NainachArya (or of any >other relative/disciple) giving details of Swami Desikan's last >moments? To the best of my knowledge , there are no information avialable on Charama upadEsam. He laid His Thiruvadi on the lap of Brahma Tantra Swatantra Swamy and His Thirumudi on Swamy NainAcchAr's lap and reached Parama Padham meditating on His AchAryan's (ApullAr's ) Sacred feet.He had completed 100 years by then. Swamy Desikan's avatharam concluded on Soumya Samvathsara Kaarthigai Pournami day at SrIrangam at His ThirumALigai at Vadakku Thiruveedhi , just opposite SrIrangana NaacchiyAr's sannidhi . Swamy Desikan bequeathed His Aaradhana Moorthy ( Lord VaradarAjan ) and the Suadrsana-Paanchajanyams recieved from His AchAryan (Swamy Apullar) to His son and blessed Brahma Tantra Swathanthra Swamy with Lord HayagrIvan , which He recieved via His AchAryan and belonged to AchArya RaamAnujA before (gifted by Devi Saraswathi). All of His sishya paramparai and others assembled were inconsolable. Swamy NainAcchAr got Himself together and saluted His Revered father, the avathAram of Lord VenkatEsA's ThirumaNi with the famous slOkam : KavitArkika SinhAya KalyANa GuNasaalinE SrImathE VenkatesAya VedAntha GuravE Nama: Swamy NainAcchAr pefformed the Charama Kaimkaryams for His revered father. SrI RanganAyaki appeared in the dream of Swamy NainAcchAr and commanded Him to build a Sannadhi for the Sarva Tantra Swatantrar right next to Her own sannidhi . Swamy NainAcchAr build that Sannidhi, consecrated the archA vigraham of Sawmy Desikan there ( uLL Desikan Sannidhi) and stayed at Srirangam performing KaalkshEpam on Granthams in front of His father's sannidhi and blessed His sishya vargam . I invite Sriman balaji to add any othe rinformation that may be missing from Vaibhava prakAsikA > >Who performed Swami Desikan's last rites and where? > >Adiyane knows DoddAchArya svAmi of Sholinghur wrote a biography of >Swami Desikan but I am not able to recall if there is any mention >there of the above matters.
