Dear Ramanujan SwamiI have read that Tarpana is required in case of Rahu grastha grahanam and not on Kethu grastha grahanam.Even in the sankalpam for grahana tarpanam, the word used is ' Suryoparaha punya kalam 'and Chandroparaha punya kalam'. Uparaha denotes' with Rahu'.AdiyenRamanuja dasanSoundararajan

Partial solar eclipse in bangalore is from 4.28 pm to 6.48 pm but sun sets
by 6.05 pm. Tarpana must be done between 4.30 pm and 5.30 pm approx.
As per our information, in India we have grastasta solar eclipse that is
the sun sets before before release and so we cannot have a glimpse of a
eclipse-free sun before setting. As we have to stop eating before atleast
six to seven hours before eclipse Almanac says no food in the morning. And
as we cannot see the clear Sun free of eclipse before setting we are
prohibited eating even in the night today, 3rd Monday. Only after seeing
clear Sun Tuesday morning we can have food. This restriction is for able
people. As for infirm and weak, they allow lite foods and liquids as per
sastras. Adherence is left to the will of the devotees.
