Dear sri vaishNava perunthagaiyeer,

Few weeks back there was a discussion on why we say "sarvam sri krishNa arpaNam
asthu"- may be in thislist or other list, just I do not remember exactly.

Here is very beautiful explanation given.

"Whenever I do a certain job and accomplish it successfully, my ahankaaram or
ego prompts me that I have accomplished this because of my capacity, knowledge,
skill and what not". One important factor is totally forgotten by me, which is
the 'dheiva sankalpam'. This dheiva sankalpam ONLY has permitted me, IN TIME,
to accomplish that success is just missed out by me on achieving the
accomplishment.

So our ancestors has added this sentence of saying 'sarvam sri krishNa arpaNam'
at the end of every important and less important actions we do.

When I have given my action and the result of that action to krishNa, then the
success of the action or the pride accompanying the achievement is not mine. So
I can not have any more ahankaaram that I did it or as a result ofthat
accomplishment.

So give the entire action and its fruit to him that krishNa who is the
'bhagavan swayam'. This is the explanation I heard in a talk by sri Kazhiyur
narayanan the famous astrologer who comes in TV daily and gives the raasi
palan. [perhaps may not be a reproduction of his talk but a gist].

May be some other explanations are better. But this giving up the ahankaaram of
an action appealed to me. Hence I thought of sharing this with you all.

Why krishNa - for that is the latest avathaaram, we have and also a poorNa
avathaaram. RaamaarpaNam can be said but krishNa is the latest. We always opt
for the most modern and that is our nature - is it not - as such krishNa.

Dhasan

Vasudevan m.g.
