SrI: SrImathE Gopaladesikamahadesikaya namah: Dearest Srivaishnavas, Let us continue to enjoy PeyAzhwAr?s wonderful anubhavams on ThiruvEnkatam. Today?s verse on ThiruvEnkatam is the 73rd verse. saarnthakadu thEyppath thadaaviyakOt tuccivaay oornthiyangum veNmathiyi NnoNmuyalai, - sErnthu sinavEngai paarkkum thirumalaiyE, aayan punavEngai naaRum poruppu. 75 The moon with its sweet white belly touching the ThiruvEnkatam moutain?s surface (the mountain being so high] crawls on its surface.. [when the moon moves]. The fiery eyed tiger looking at the dark spots on the moon thinks that it is the white rabbit nearby and attempts to pounce on its prey. It keeps ogling at the prey without being able to reach and touch nor it is able to get away from it as it is inaccessible. Thus it is so near yet so far. In such a lovely mountain of ThiruvEnkatam, the vEngai trees [meaning: neem trees] grow dense and tall and the whole place is cool and fertile- where our Lord KaNNan resides. A wonderful scenic beauty. The mountain so tall that the white moon appears to be touching on its stomach and appears to be crawling on the surface. The tiger sees the dark spots of the moon [so near] and assumes that it is white rabbit [the poets always consider the dark spots of the moon as rabbits- poetic imagination] and attempts pounce on it. It neither leaves the place due to temptation nor is it able to reach its prey due to inaccessibility. This is similar to our running behind the transitory pleasures which appear to be giving us happiness; but not actually so. Also it pulls us down further. This tiger nor being able to proceed; nor stop- this [though niot directly relevant, reminds me of naapagacchan; naThishthan of Gopala vimsathi 5th verse. - not moving; nor stationary..] KaNNan slowly enters into the kitchen. He looks there; and here; no one is around. This is the right time. YasOdhA, after getting vexed with the mischievous butter-stealing acts, keeps the butter in a different container and at a different place to mislead our Kutti KaNNan. But our Lord- the sarvEshwaran- Does He not know where the veNNai [butter] is? Will He get misled? No. He tip-toes towards the big pot (which is tall as He)- He opens the lid. And with great effort, puts the whole hand in upto the shoulder and takes a handful of butter; puts the whole lot into His mouth. Not enough. He dips in again! Oh My God! YasOdhA has come in! She has seen everything. He is caught stealing the butter- with His mouth full of butter, - with His hand fully dipped into the pot. What will He do now? SarvEshwaran- Our Lord Kutti KaNNan is scared of the visible angry mother approaching Him. Will she hit Him? Will she scold Him? What puishment will she give Him? He is perplexed. Should He run away? He has taken off one foot and is ready to run. At the same time, He is not able to run away because He is cornered and fully caught red handed. He is neither standing nor is He running! The little Lord of ours has decided to close His eyes, unable to see what is going to happen, thinking that He can avoid the punishment by closing His eyes! The Universal Lord,- who protects the whole Universe and even beyond, simply and effortlessly in His Yoga nithrA on AdhisEshan, with complete awareness and knowledge of all and every thing that happens everywhere- is having His eyes now closed to avoid seeing His mother coming towards Him! Vedanta Desikan?s enjoyment is beyond description in words. aazhwAr ThiruvaDigaLE SaraNam SrI PadmAvathI SamEtha Sri Srinivasa ParabrahmaNE Namah: Regards Namo Narayana dAsan __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
