Matthew 9:27 KAI PARAGONTI EKEIQEN TW IHSOU HKOLOUQHSAN [AUTW] DUO
TUFLOI

Interpreting this as an "associative instrumental dative" we get:
"And *with* Jesus, passing on from there, followed two blind men."

The AUTW is pleonastic.

But it is also possible to translate (casus obliquus):
"And two blind men followed Jesus, *as he is* passing on from there"
as in Mt 21:23
PROSHLQON AUTW DIDASKONTI OI ARCIEREIS
"came to him as he was teaching, the chief priests"

Is there a way to tell these apart and makes it a difference at all?

Best wishes
    Wieland
