Ὡσεί hWSEI indicates a comparison.  It does not indicate identity.

Subject: [B-Greek] Bloody Sweat

Lk 22:44
καὶ ἐγένετο ὁ ἱδρὼς αὐτοῦ ὡσεὶ θρόμβοι αἵματος

KAI EGENETO O hIDRWS AUTOU hWSEI QROMBOI AIMATOS

Every year this bothers me, but I don't think I've ever posted a question about
it here.

I always understood this verse to say, "And his sweat became like large drops of
blood"; where hWSEI means something like "could be compared to", not "turned
into". Yet every Lent we hear about the "bloody sweat".

So what is the natural meaning of hWSEI here?
