One of these, surely, must be William Doty's _Letters in Primitive Christianity_
(Fortress, 1973). And if it isn't, it should be. Another volume that would be of good
service is _Light From Ancient Letters_ by John White (again Fortress). And what about
the discussion of letter forms in the Anchor Bible Dictionary and _The Dictionary of
Paul and His Letters_ (IVP)?
