Photo #: 80-G-286409 Normandy Invasion, June 1944 A "Phoenix" caisson is towed across the English Channel by the tug Dexterous, for use as part of a "Mulberry" artificial harbor off the Normandy invasion beaches. Photograph received by the Naval Photographic Science Laboratory on 21 November 1944. It was actually taken in June of that year.
