Iwo Jima Operation, 1945


Building a causeway over the wrecks of several landing craft, on an Iwo Jima beach, February 1945. The craft being covered over include a pair of LCVPs and a LVT amphibious tractor.
Note the mobile cranes at work in the vicinity.
USS LCT-1269 is beached in the middle distance, with USS LST-792 beyond her.
