Japanese Type A or Type C Midget Submarine


Under attack by three PV-1 "Ventura" patrol bombers of the Seventh Fleet, in Davao Gulf, Mindanao, Philippine Islands, 27 May 1945.
The submarine, which has a long float alongside its port side, has just been struck by a rocket and is surrounded by bullet splashes from the planes' .50 caliber machine guns.
