Normandy Invasion, June 1944


A Loebnitz Pier (left) is moved into position at the seaward end of a pontoon bridgeway inside the "Omaha" Beach "Mulberry" artificial harbor, off Colleville, France.
Note the pontoon bridgeway section at right, being towed over for use in another unit.
Photograph was released for publication on 23 October 1944, but was taken prior to the destruction of the "Mulberry" in the great storm of 19-22 June.
