"Great White Fleet" World Cruise
Three battleships of the Atlantic Fleet's Third Squadron steaming
in column in mid-Atlantic, as they greet the "Great White
Fleet" during its voyage back to the United States at the
end of its World cruise, February 1909.
These ships, wearing the recently-adopted grey paint scheme,
are (from left to right:
USS Maine (Battleship # 10), Squadron flagship;
USS New Hampshire (Battleship # 25); and
either USS Mississippi (Battleship # 23) or USS Idaho
(Battleship #24). Note that this ship has been fitted with a
"cage" mainmast.
