Homecoming of the "Great White Fleet"

Hampton Roads, Virginia, 22 February 1909

Local excursion steamer General Lee (center) steaming past a line of Atlantic Fleet ships, during ceremonies welcoming the "Great White Fleet" home at the end of its World cruise.
The ship at right is either USS Mississippi (Battleship # 23) or USS Idaho (Battleship # 24), neither of which participated in the cruise around the World. Note that she wears the newly-introduced grey paint, and has been fitted with a "cage" mainmast.
