Homecoming of the "Great White Fleet",
Hampton Roads, Virginia, 22 February 1909
Local excursion steamer General Lee (left center) steaming
past a line of Atlantic Fleet ships, during ceremonies welcoming
the "Great White Fleet" home at the end of its World
cruise.
The ship beyond and to the right of General Lee is either
USS Mississippi (Battleship # 23) or USS Idaho
(Battleship # 24), neither of which participated in the cruise
around the World. Note that she wears the newly-introduced grey
paint, and has been fitted with a "cage" mainmast.
