Lake Champlain Campaign, 1814


Sketch by George E. Lawrence, depicting "the shipyard in the woods" at Vergennes, Vermont, with three warships of Commodore Thomas Macdonough's Lake Champlain squadron under construction, circa 1 May 1814.
The vessels are identified on the sketch as: U.S. Schooner Ticonderoga (foreground); U.S. Sloop Preble (middle) and USS Saratoga (rear). All have lower masts erected and appear ready for launching.
