USS Shenandoah (ZR-1)
"Crowds dispersing after launching of ZR-1" (original
caption).
Those present appear to all be Sailors, most dressed in "Whites",
but some in "Blues". A few are waving at the camera.
These may be ground handlers at the time of Shenandoah's
first flight, on 4 September 1923, or after her christening on
10 October 1923. Both events took place at Naval Air Station
Lakehurst, New Jersey.
