Honda Point disaster, September 1923


Wreck of USS S.P. Lee (DD-310), just offshore at Honda Point, California, 4 December 1924, after the ship had been substantially broken up by wave action. The view looks northward, with S.P. Lee's galley deckhouse and boilers in the foreground.
Marked in the center is the galley deckhouse (with two 4"/50 guns still mounted) of USS Nicholas (DD-311).
Also marked, in the distance, is the wreck of the S.S. Santa Rosa, which went ashore on this coast on 7 July 1911.
