The ship whose stack, ventilators and mainmast are visible in the foreground is USS Galatea (SP-714). Immediately beyond her are a U.S. Navy submarine chaser and tug. To the right are two Canadian-built British Admiralty wooden drifters, CD.8 (1917-1920) and CD.7 (1917-1921).
