Admiral Graf Spee
(German Armored Ship, 1936)

Photograph of a shell hole in the ship's forward superstructure tower, made by an eight-inch shell fired by the British heavy cruser Exeter. The sketch below shows the location of the hole, and describes it as "large enough to crawl through".
Taken on board the ship's wreck in the River Plate, near Montevideo, Uruguay, where she had been scuttled in December 1939.
