Honda Point disaster, September 1923
Wreckage of USS Chauncey (DD-296) off Point Pedernales
(Honda Point), California, 4 December 1924, after she had been
substantially broken up by the surf. Her bow section is at left,
and her midships (galley) deckhouse is in the foreground, with
boilers beyond.
The islet in the distance is Woodbury rock, with arrows "W"
and "F" marking the places where USS Woodbury
(DD-309) and USS Fuller (DD-297) went aground on 8 September
1923.
