Passaic class monitor

Laid up alongside another monitor at the League Island Navy Yard, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 31 July 1904.
This ship is either Lehigh, Montauk, Nahant or Sangamon, all of which were sold in April 1904 but may not have been removed until later.

U.S. Naval Historical Center Photograph.

Online Image: 117KB; 740 x 570 pixels

Note:
This ship was long-identified in our files as USS Canonicus (1864-1908). However, it clearly is a member of the rather different Passaic class.
