Steamship Augusta
(1852-1877)

Watercolor by Erik Heyl, 1948, painted for use in his book "Early American Steamers", Volume I.
Built at New York City in 1852, she was taken over by the Navy in 1861 and served as USS Augusta until sold in December 1868. Renamed Magnolia in merchant service, she foundered on 30 September 1877.
