USS De Grasse

In an icy harbor, circa 1918.
Built by George Lawley & Son Corporation of Neponset, Massachusetts, for J.L. Redmond of New York City, this steam turbine powered pleasure craft was ordered taken over for World War I service on 7 June 1917, while she was under construction. She was placed in commission when completed in about July 1918 and was returned to her owner on 7 November 1918.
