UNITED STATES PACIFIC FLEET
AIR FORCE
COMMANDER ESCORT CARRIER FORCE



In the name of the President of the United States, the Commander Escort Carrier Force, United States Pacific Fleet, takes pleasure in presenting the BRONZE STAR MEDAL to

LIEUTENANT (JUNIOR GRADE) JOHN LEE HIGHFILL
UNITED STATES NAVY

for service as set forth in the following

CITATION:

"For distinguishing himself by meritorious achievement as Photographic Officer of a Combatant Escort Carrier in connection with sustained operations against the enemy in Central Pacific Waters during the period from December, 1944 through May, 1945. As Photographic Officer aboard the Escort Carrier Force Flagship, his duties were substantially increased, and these he fulfilled in a manner which was beyond that normally required or expected. His professional skill and inspiring leadership contributed greatly to the success of these sustained operations. The able manner in which he performed his duties and his conduct were at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service."
