Hopkins (U.S. fishing boat, 1917)
Probably photographed off Norfolk, Virginia, in 1917. Note fish
mounted atop her pilothouse, snappily dressed crewmen and mansions
in the background.
Hopkins, whose relatively high speed of 10.4 knots is
advertised on the sign describing her as "the fastest fish
boat running between this city and the fish nets", was commissioned
in the Navy on 3 October 1918 as USS Hopkins (ID # 3294).
She was transferred to the War Department on 4 March 1920.
The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.
