Republic of Korea Naval Academy, Chinhae, Korea

"Instructor (pointing wand) instructs 1st class midshipmen on the principles of diesel engineering in another step of the midshipmen's training at the ROK Naval Academy."
Photograph and caption were released by Commander Naval Forces, Far East, under date of 6 September 1952.
Though the original caption implies that this engine is a diesel, presence of a smokestack immediately forward of the engine, and some of its other features, indicate that this is really is a steam engine, probably for small craft propulsion.

Official U.S. Navy Photograph, from the "All Hands" collection at the Naval Historical Center.
