North Korean Railroad Facility

"Pinpoint Bombing Results in Total Destruction -- These before and after photos of an enemy marshalling yard and railroad turntable at Munsan, North Korea, are evidence of the success of the Navy's interdiction missions over enemy territory. These two photos show the total destruction of this turntable and storage space. The turntable itself was pinpointed with a direct hit. Outlying storage space and warehouses were raked with 20mm and 50-caliber cannon fire to complete the razing of this enemy installation. Pilots flying AD Skyraiders from the carrier USS Bon Homme Richard are credited with this kill."
Photograph and caption were released by Commander Naval Forces, Far East, under date of 29 December 1952.
Only the "Before" photo of the series is shown here. USS Bon Homme Richard (CVA-31) completed her second Korean War tour on 18 December 1952, so this photo was taken some time prior to that date.

Official U.S. Navy Photograph, from the "All Hands" collection at the Naval Historical Center.
