Operation "Little Switch", April 1953


"U.S. Naval Aviator among Repatriated -- Ensign Marvin S. Broomhead, USN, a Navy flyer repatriated by the Communists during the prisoner of war exchanges on April 25th, waves from the helicopter that will fly him from Freedom Village to Seoul on the first leg of his trip home. On February 8, 1952 Ensign Broomhead piloting a Navy Skyraider off the carrier USS Valley Forge, was shot down 30 miles northwest of the Wonsan area, and was captured by the Communists after two unsuccessful rescue attempts by helicopters."
Photograph and caption were released by Commander Naval Forces, Far East, under date of 28 April 1953.
