USNS Josiah Willard Gibbs (T-AGOR-1)
Team conducting at-sea tests of the ship's deep-sea winch, probably
soon after installation in around late 1959.
The test team is preparing the winch's cable for attachment to
a tug boat. The subsequent strain test showed that the winch
was capable of handling 45,000 pounds, 5,000 pounds over its
designed limit.
