USNS Josiah Willard Gibbs (T-AGOR-1)
Crewman lashing a spare anchor to the cable guide for the ship's
deep-sea winch.
The cable guide appears to have received much hard use since
its installation in around 1959, and the anchor was probably
needed to provide it additional strength and rigidity. The cable
guide supported the cable between the tractor winch, visible
behind the crewman, and the "O" frame on the ship's
stern.
