J. Reyner & Son
(American Motor Boat, 1916)

Two-part photograph, showing the boat's forward portion in the upper image, and her after part in the lower. Probably taken at Newport News, Virginia, perhaps when she was inspected by the Fifth Naval District on 2 May 1917. Another craft, named Beulah M., is partially visible behind her.
Purchased by the Navy from her owner, J. Reyner & Son of Newport News, this working boat was placed in commission as USS J. Reyner & Son (SP-869) on 11 January 1918. After service with the Navy and with the American Red Cross, she was transferred to the War Department on 20 April 1920.
