USS Walke (Destroyer # 34)
Diver (Chief Gunner's Mate) Frank W. Crilley "Suiting up"
on board the ship, during deep diving tests conducted in Long
Island Sound in late October and early November 1914. Assisting
him are divers Nielson and Chief Gunner's Mate Stephen J. Drellishak
(wearing communications headset). The photo may have been taken
on 23 or 26 October, both days when Crilley made dives.
Note air pressure gage at left and recompression chamber in the
background.
