Amagansett (American Fishing Vessel, 1879)
In port, circa 1917, possibly after being taken over by the Navy.
Note the interesting pattern of her paintwork, perhaps some kind
of camouflage. The ferry Castleton is in the background.
This "Mehanden Fisherman" was commissioned as USS Amagansett
(SP-693) on 17 May 1917, for World War I service, and returned
to her owner on 12 March 1919.
The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.
