Dauntless
(American Motor Boat)

In a boat house, possibly that of her builder, W. Frank Harrison, of Essex, Connecticut, prior to her World War I Navy service.
Described on her official data card as a "new well built vessel", this craft was acquired by the Navy on 11 September 1917 and commissioned on 1 October 1917 as USS Dauntless (SP-1002). She was returned to her owner, R.T.H. Barnes of Roxidge Avon, Connecticut, on 17 May 1919.
