Kangaroo
(American Motor Boat, 1917)

Photographed when first completed in 1917.
She was one of nine 62'4" motor boats built by Herreshoff of Bristol, Rhode Island, specifically for patrol service. Her original name was Herreshoff 316, which her owner changed to Kangaroo. She was acquired by the Navy and placed in commission on 18 September 1917 as USS Kangaroo (SP-1284). Stricken on 20 May 1919, she was transferred to the Treasury Department on 22 November 1919.
