Oneida
(American Steam Yacht, 1897)

Laid up, prior to World War I.
Built by Harlan and Hollingsworth at Wilmington, Delaware, this yacht was ordered taken over for U.S. Navy service abroad on 14 July 1917 and assigned the identification number SP-432. However, these orders were cancelled on 27 September 1917 without any action being taken. The photograph, showing Oneida without her funnel, suggests that she was in poor condition, and thus unsuitable for Navy use.

The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.
