Phoenix Bridge (American Freighter, 1918)
Photographed by M. Rosenfeld, New York, immediately after launching
in 1918. She was built by the Submarine Boat Company, Newark,
New Jersey, as their Hull 557. On 28 September 1918 the Navy
Department directed that, when Phoenix Bridge was completed
in October 1918, she was to be taken over for Naval Overseas
Transportation Service operation, with the registry number ID
3767. However this was not done, and she remained in civilian
hands.
