USS Pirate (SP-229)


Photographed during World War I. The life ring on her railing, aft, features her name and "SP" number.
Built as a pleasure craft in 1916, Pirate was acquired by the Navy and commissioned on 5 September 1917. She was returned to her owner on 26 December 1918.

The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.
