S.S. Alanthus
(American Freighter, 1918)

In port, possibly when inspected by the Third Naval District on 16 October 1918.
This wooden-hulled steamer was built for the Emergency Fleet Corporation by the Foundation Company of Newark, New Jersey. Freshly completed at the time of her Navy inspection, she was assigned the registry ID # 3593, but did not enter Naval service.
Note that Alanthus is painted in pattern camouflage.
