Children from the sixth grade at Walnut Street School, Uniondale, Long Island, New York, receiving a souvenir knot board from the MSTSA Chief of Staff, Captain D. W. Olney, and the commander of the Rose, Captain Herbert E. Daub, on board the ship, circa 1960. The class, which had adopted the ship, subsequently displayed and studied the knot board in its classroom.
On the left of Captain Olney is the school's principal, Harold Barber, and to the right of Captain Daub is the class's teacher, David Benson.
