Eclipse (American Auxiliary Schooner, 1906)
Halftone reproduction of a photograph of the schooner under sail,
prior to her World War I era Navy service.
Built in 1906 by Bishops of Gloucester, Massachusetts, this pleasure
craft was owned in 1917 by Frank W. Spencer of Savannah, Georgia.
The Navy acquired her on 31 August of that year, placing her
in commission at that time as USS Eclipse (SP-417). She
was returned to her owner on 6 January 1919.
