Iwo Jima Operation, 1945


Aerial photograph of Iwo Jima's east landing beaches, looking northeastward from over Mount Suribachi. Beach Green One is in the lower right, with Red, Yellow and Blue Beaches running up the coast toward the rough ground in the upper left. Many LSTs, LSMs and LCTs are unloading, with more anchored offshore. Note the roads, supply dumps and vehicle parks along the beach, with other roadways leading inland.
