Landing ships and craft unloading on Iwo Jima's eastern beaches, 25 February 1945.
Photographed from Mount Suribachi by SSgt. Mark Haufman, the view looks north from the vicinity of the Red Beaches. Note roads leading inland, LVTs and other vehicles in the vicinity and small Japanese ship wrecked on the beach (right center).
Identifiable ships include (from bottom to top): LST-715, LST-790, LST-724, LSM-242, LCT-892 (probably), LCT-1028, LST-224, LST-784, LSM-43, LCI(L)-1077, LSM-140, LSM-47, LST-779 and LSM-202.
