Iwo Jima Operation, 1945


USS LST-764 unloading on an Iwo Jima beach, circa late February 1945.
Note the two wrecked LVTs in the left and right foreground. That at left, marked "C-11", carries the nickname "Fuzzy". That at right is nicknamed "War Hawk". The broken remains of a landing craft are in the center foreground.
