Iwo Jima Operation, 1945


LVT(A) mired on an Iwo Jima Beach, about two or three days after the 19 February 1945 landings. It is marked "A 21" and carries the nickname "Grzmot".
Mount Suribachi is in the left distance.

The original print came from Rear Admiral Samuel Eliot Morison's World War II history project working files. It was provided to Morison by Ellery Sedgwick, Jr.
