Pacific Fleet Armored Cruisers

LThree armored cruiserslaying off Coronado, California, 15 March 1911, during a landing force exercise.
The steam launch in the foreground is from USS California (Armored Cruiser # 6). The ship at right is USS West Virginia (Armored Cruiser # 5), which has been fitted with a "basket" foremast. The other two cruisers still have their original military foremasts. That at left is either USS Pennsylvania (Armored Cruiser # 4) or USS Colorado (Armored Cruiser # 7).
