With his younger brother, Captain Joe P. Moorer, in their first meeting in over a year, 30 June 1967. Their paths crossed aboard the Seventh Fleet aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard (CVA-31), operating in the Tonkin Gulf.
Admiral Moorer, who is 55, arrived aboard the "Bonnie Dick" as a scheduled stop on his tour of military units in the Far East. Captain Moorer, 44, is the staff operations officer for Vice Admiral John J. Hyland, Seventh Fleet Commander, who arrived aboard the aircraft carrier for a Vietnam operations briefing. Both Adm. Moorer and VAdm. Hyland met with Rear Admiral Vincent P. de Poix, Commander Carrier Division Seven, whose flagship is the Bon Homme Richard.
