Korean Chief of Naval Operations visits Norfolk, Virginia
Vice Admiral Hahm Myong Soo (left), Republic of Korea Chief of
Naval Operations, receives honors on Thursday, 13 January 1966,
at the headquarters of Admiral Thomas H. Moorer, USN, (center),
Commander in Chief, U.S. Atlantic Fleet.
Attending the honors ceremony were Vice Admiral Waldemar F.A.
Wendt, USN, (partially hidden by Adm. Moorer's right arm), Deputy
Commander in Chief, U.S. Atlantic Fleet; Major General Rathvon
McC. Tompkins, USMC, (behind Adm. Moorer's left shoulder), Deputy
Chief of Staff, U.S. Atlantic Command; and (at right) Commodore
Kim Chun Tae, Superintendant of the Republic of Korea Naval Academy.
Vice Admiral Hahm visited Atlantic Fleet headquarters as guest
of the U.S. Navy's Chief of Naval Operations. While in the Norfolk
area, VAdm. Hahm and his wife received a helicopter tour of Tidewater
naval installations, demonstrations and tours of the Little Creek
Amphibious Base, and a tour of the aircraft carrier USS Independence
(CVA-62) at the Norfolk Naval Station. He departed Norfolk for
New York City on 14 January.
